Press Release - November 13, 2007
OrderMotion® Upgrades Service by Leveraging the Power of the Small and Medium-Sized Merchant Community
Ground-breaking upgrades for on-demand fulfillment, on-demand ad-hoc order processing and on-demand inventory replenishment part of 9.2 release
Boston, Massachusetts—November 13, 2007—OrderMotion, Inc., the pioneer and leading provider of on-demand, order and customer management services designed specifically for the small and medium sized merchant, announced significant upgrades to the OrderMotion® order and customer management services pulled from the OrderMotion IdeaExchange. The upgrades are focused on empowering merchants with more choice in how they manage critical functions in their online retail businesses, such as fulfillment, order-processing, and inventory replenishment to improve efficiency and improve their respective bottom line.
The OrderMotion IdeaExchange was part of the OrderMotion version 9.0 launch last spring—the biggest upgrade in its history. The IdeaExchange is a forum for the OrderMotion merchant community to suggest, debate and ultimately drive the future product features and functionality of the OrderMotion service. The results of this feedback were taken into account for all of the new features addressed in the 9.2 release.
“OrderMotion merchant customers are smart business people running very creative and successful retail operations,” said Donny Askin, Chief Executive Officer, OrderMotion, Inc. “We are committed to continually investing in and empowering our merchant community with the means to drive the direction of the OrderMotion order and customer management service – they understand best what features and functionality will help them grow their businesses.”
New features announced today as part of the 9.2 release:
- Smart Fulfillment — New unique on-demand, flexible and automated fulfillment capabilities provide the means for merchants to apply fulfillment best practices and make the most economical decisions for shipping orders—reducing overhead, inventory and streamlining operations. This means big savings for merchants and greater control for inventory managers. Features include:
- Automatic fulfillment switching between a drop-shipper and a merchant’s own warehouse, based on availability. This saves potential lost orders due to an out of stock situation while reducing the risk of overstocking new items with limited purchase history.
- Efficient ability to track and pull returned drop ship items back to suppliers or immediately reship to other customers to fulfill new orders.
On-demand, Ad-hoc Order Processing — Merchants who need flexibility beyond pre-scheduled order processing now have the ability to perform on-demand, ad-hoc order processing. For example, for merchants who want to group orders for fulfillment based on priority shipping, high-demand items, or even back-ordered inventory can now do so with ease. This feature significantly increases a merchant’s operational efficiency by enabling on-demand order processing via flexible filtering of only the orders a merchant needs to pick, pack and process.
- On Demand Replenishment — Merchants who need flexibility beyond pre-scheduled batch replenishment now have the capability to decide when they want to replenish their inventory and run replenishment by location, zone or an entire warehouse.
-
More efficient eBay integration — This new release streamlines maintenance and setup of eBay auctions. For example, users can perform bulk upload and downloads; copy and correct auction details; post pending auctions; and upload images from OrderMotion directly into eBay.
-
Luxury tax enhancement — Updated sales tax functionality enables merchants to comply with state regulations that levy special taxes on luxury items.
